I WEEP FOR GHANA’S POSTERITY

Image
You know the feeling of gross disappointment, whenever you realize that the perpetrator of a hideous offense, is an older person. Like when you realize that the traffic offense you just witnessed, was committed by an older person, of sound mind, and body. Again, it is quite disappointing, when you encounter an older person, who exhibits gross rudeness or disrespect to others, especially a younger person. Our Ghanaian customs, and perhaps natural order, requires so much from our elders, especially in behavior. In as much as the younger ones are expected to accord elders with respect, this same social norm, requires our elders to carry themselves with comportment.  In Ghana today, one thing is becoming quite glaring. The social norm of elders, serving as good example to the older ones, seems to be fast tilting. They are failing us. Considering the kind of stories or scandals we keep hearing on a daily basis, some of our elders, are a disappointment. For the youth, certain mis

RATIONALIZATION: WHO SUFFERS THE MOST?

In view of current development of progressively disturbing nature, I cannot but express my genuine and sincere thoughts, as a concerned citizen. In expressing these thoughts, I would like to categorically state that, Ghana is my home. I write because I have identified writing as a useful tool and resource in addressing issues, as my contribution to the growth of this nation, apart from my other commitments.  Events in this country seem to be spinning in a direction that awakes a sense of seeming bleakness. Permit me to share my sentiments, because they are, but sentiments, considering the fact that our current society, spares no room for people’s genuine opinions, without them being misconstrued, especially under the usual partisan categorization. However valid a concern, it quickly gets swept under the carpet of partisan politics. Rather unfortunately, this very behavior, is the foundation of our afflictions. This very article of mine, can receive partisan categorization,

The crime of Justification

In a society where people take pride in justifying all sorts of wrongdoing and crime, is it surprising the predicament in which we find ourselves? When crimes go unpunished... On a continent where all sorts of crime gets shielded by the guise of tribe, ethnicity, religion, gender and politics, are we surprised at our marginal deficits in development, to say the least? A spade ought to be called for what it is.  To condone is the worse crime...🤐🤐🤐

The years have come and gone...

The years have come and gone, and yet again, here we are. A brand new year. We told our old selves the old year would be better. Indeed, we promised ourselves to be better. Be better. Be great. Of course, we were under the spell of the New Year's resolutions. But as has happened in several years past, the old year also came past. Like before, without much to it's credit, other than piling in its wake, more disappointments. Soon, we might look upon our wrinkled faces, and only behold the lines, that would serve as traces of all our lost dreams, hopes, and aspirations. A harsh reminder of our failed resolutions. But again, we cannot loose hope. Because that is all we have. That is what keeps us going. And so, again, we look forward to the new year, with awakened hope. Of better days. Of improvement in our lives. Of attaining our dreams. Of getting closer to our marks. Of drawing closer to our targets. The dream job. The dream career. The dream limelight. The dream house. The drea

Ghana’s Rare Talent-Prince Kojo-Hilton; the Artistic Genius…

Ghana’s Rare Talent-Prince Kojo-Hilton; the Artistic Genius… Have you ever been blown away by the set design, make-up or visual effects of costume from a movie scene or stage play or any form of theatre? The excellence or brilliance and creativity, showcased in the choice, build, or setup in a stage play or movie? That scary face? That fake tattoo? That scar? The bruised faces? You come across a good art painting and are curious to know the person behind it. Most often, we easily forget about the intelligence and amount of work that went into the scripts or set-up. We only hail the excellence in the delivery of the actors, and so readily or easily ignore the works of the actual talents behind the screen; the writer, director, cinematographer, set designer, scenic artist, and other equally important crew members. One of such, of amazingly unbelievable talent, with the drive and motivation to go beyond the limitations of his circumstances or environment is
